FAQ

FAQ Frequently Asked Questions:

I want to start preparing to become a Midwife’s Assistant. How can I begin?

You will need to get certifications in both CPR level C and Neo natal resuscitation. It is a good idea to put together a resume and continuing education log to show all experience and training related to childbirth. Some items to include are: Doula training, Breastfeeding courses, midwifery schooling, volunteer work, etc. I suggest that you contact your local midwifery clinic and talk to them to see if they have a need for assistants. Find out what qualifications they expect.  The General Skills DVD and Midwife Assistant Orientation DVD and manual go hand in hand as an excellent way to lay a foundation of learning and preparation for practical application of skills.

Is there a formal course that I can take to become a midwife’s assistant?

Yes, there is an excellent online course you can take offered through the Midwife’s College of Utah. You can find out more about this course at  www.midwifery.edu.

Does the Manual come with the Midwife Assistant DVD Set?

We have created a new “Green” manual for students. You can  purchase the E-Manual separately and upload it from the website.
