The General Skills for the Student Midwife DVD set is a great opportunity for student midwives to learn and review basic midwifery skills that are essential to their midwifery education. Skills are demonstrated by experienced midwives and nurses and are interspersed with real live examples of the skills described. Valuable discussions of the management of maternal and newborn vitals outside of normal range by a registered midwife are also included.
Jodie Fisher, President of the Midwives College of Utah has this to say about this fabulous new teaching for midwives and their apprentices:
Lainna Wheatley, an MCU faculty member, has just published an incredible DVD resource for student midwives General Skills for the Student Midwife.
This is a terrific set for helping your apprentices prepare to be more helpful and effective as they begin working in your practice.

“General Skills for the Student Midwife DVD’s helped me tremendously. I had taken an EMT course and compared the two and found Lainna’s teachings superior to any I have seen. The instruction on how to use the otoscope and ophthalmoscope helped me understand my newly purchased instruments.”

I just wanted to tell you how blessed I have been through you during this course. You are an inspiration. Skilled birth attendant, author, songwriter, actress, and mother (catching your own baby no less!). Through this course you have made me laugh, made me cry, made me think, and taught me to be a better (future) midwife. Thank you for sharing yourself and your time to help those of us on this path.
